Urinary tract infection

The urinary tract firstly comprises of the bladder, kidneys, ureters and urethra, a urinary tract infection can be caused by many things but usually the main cause is Escherichia coli or commonly abbreviated E. coli for short.

Escherichia coli or E. coli is commonly found in the lower intestine and most E coli strains are harmless but some can cause serious food poisoning in humans, urinary tract infections can occur when E. coli is spread from the urethra from the anus, some symptoms of urinary tract infection are as follows and could include ……

1) A burning or scalding pain when urinating

2) A pain just above the pubic bone

3) The presence of blood in the urine or cloudy (containing pus)

4) A feeling that the bladder is still full after urinating

5) Wanting to urinate more urgently/ frequently sometimes only a few drops

6) Pain/ pressure in the rectum in Men or in the area of the pubic bone for Women

Kidney infections should always be treated as serious, if an infection reaches the kidneys medical attention should be sought immediately, 80% of cases of kidney and urinary tract infections are caused by E. coli and treatment for kidney infection  antibiotics, a urine and blood sample will be taken and sent to a Lab for analysis for any sign of bacterial growth by way of “cultures” for kidney infection treatment.
